What will Brexit mean for the law of England and Wales?
In the short term nothing as long as the UK remains in the EU.
After that the UK may choose to carry on with many of the laws that came from the EU.
We are told there are over 80,000 pages worth of laws that someone will need to sift through if changes are to be made.
So don’t expect much to happen for a while.
However longer term, there could be significant changes to employment and personal injury law, as much of our current law originated in EU regulations which were then adopted by the UK.
Then there’s the question of contractual terms, especially if dealing with EU countries.
